In September 2015, the final deadline of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) will arrive and member states of the United Nations will commit to a new set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the next 15 years.
This month Equity for Children presents an analysis of the opportunities and challenges offered by the current ongoing negotiations on the SDGs from our Director of Programs and Research, Günay Salazar, here as well as the timeline of events through September 2015.
For a deeper understanding of the SDGs and for critical insights about their impact and those of the Post-2015 Development Agenda for children, I attach interviews with:
- Luis Fernando Carrera Castro, Permanent Representative of Guatemala to the United Nations, here;
- Professor Sakiko Fukuda-Parr, Department of International Affairs, Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy, The New School, here;
- Nicholas Alipui, Director and Senior Adviser, Post-2015 Development Agenda, UNICEF, here.
Please share your thoughts with us about what you view as key priorities for children’s rights by posting a comment on our website here.
Coming up on March 5, Equity for Children will co-sponsor an event on “Women, Climate Change and Cities: An Intersectional Perspective”, in concert with The New School’s Milano School of International Affairs, Management, and Urban Policy, the Tishman Environment and Design Center and the Women’s Environment and Development Organization (WEDO), in which we will provide research results about the impact of climate change on children. Please RSVP here.
Thank you so much for your continued interest in Equity for Children.
