On November 19, 2015, Equity for Children hosted an event on “Climate Change, Cities and Youth Engagement” at The New School in New York City. In preparation for the upcoming United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP) 21 in November/December 2015 in Paris, the seminar examined the role of young people in promoting policy action on climate change in cities. The event included a presentation of original child and youth-led mitigation and adaptation initiatives where young people are making a catalytic contribution to sustainable urban environments. A moderated panel discussion between youth activists, students, academics and practitioners followed. The discussion addressed how children and youth can mobilize to provide solutions for greater resilience and social inclusion in the urban environment within the context of climate change.
The event included:
- – Innovative youth-led project presentations
- – A moderated panel discussion and Q&A with the audience
- – Mingling and networking
