On February 12, 2009, the Kaiser Family Foundation hosted an expert panel to discuss President Obama’s reauthorized child health insurance program. The discussants included Barbara Lyons, Alan Weil, Cindy Mann and Robin Rudowitz. Topics of discussion included the impact of the changes to dental and mental health care for children and President Obama’s proposed stimulus package, Dr. Weil commented, “It is a good step and I think again in conjunction with your question regarding the stimulus, we know that states want to cover children. We know that in economic down turns Medicaid has a protected status partly because of the vulnerability of the population it serves, partly because of the match rate.” The transcript of the discussion is available online from Kaiser Family Foundation.
