Equity for Children Participates in World Children’s Day Event on Inclusive Social Protection

On November 20, 2025, Equity for Children was honored to take part in the World Children’s Day event “Building Inclusive Social Protection for Children in Humanitarian Settings through Early Childhood Development (ECD)”—a global conversation organized by OMEP, FAWCO, the NGO Committee on Migration, the American Psychological Association, Make Mothers Matter, and other partners.

Our Executive Director, Alberto Minujin, delivered a powerful presentation highlighting the urgent need for multidimensional, child-centered social protection systems, particularly for children living in poverty, displacement, and fragile environments. Drawing on decades of research and field experience, Alberto emphasized:

  • That child poverty is multidimensional, combining material and non-material deprivations such as discrimination, mental-health stress, and exposure to conflict.
  • The importance of supporting children from the very beginning of life, including during pregnancy and early childhood.
  • The essential role of caregivers, communities, and local systems in ensuring full ECD coverage.
  • The often invisible but critical ways in which children themselves act as agents of change, especially adolescents and migrant children navigating complex systems alongside their families.

Alberto’s remarks stood out for their clarity, conviction, and deep commitment to evidence-based policy, a reflection of Equity for Children’s mission to elevate the rights and wellbeing of the most marginalized children worldwide.

We are proud of Alberto’s leadership and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important global dialogue.
