Jaime’s story is part of our In First Person video project, which brings the realities of Latin American migrant families in New York City into sharp, human focus. Created through a composite storytelling methodology, the video weaves together recurring experiences from multiple front-line social workers into one protected narrative, preserving confidentiality while making the research vivid, accessible, and emotionally resonant. Rather than presenting migration as an abstract issue or a set of statistics, Jaime’s voice reveals the daily pressures, hopes, and resilience of families navigating housing insecurity, school systems, legal uncertainty, and the urgent desire to build a safer future for their children.
